Analog Assault Episode 17: Don’t Pass Up Xbox Game Pass, Anthem Delay, Sea of Thieves

Recorded on Thursday, January 25, 2017.

All the war wounds from PAX South have healed, and the gang are back together for a new year full of games and podcasts. 2018 is off to an interesting start with plenty of newsworthy topics to discuss!

BioWare’s famous Project Dylan, now known to be Anthem, is reportedly being delayed. We share some thoughts on BioWare’s recent past, how EA affects their game production, and media outlet toxicity.

The guys give their opinion on the recent play session of Sea of Thieves.

Your Shots Fired submissions asked us about Xbox Game Pass, Al Pacino, The Witcher, classic games, and Nintendo Labo.

Analog Assault Episode 16: Live @ PAX South ‘18 w/ Rick from Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Recorded on Saturday, January 13, 2017.

Happy new year, listeners! After many holiday trips, meals, and diseases, the cast of Analog Assault is (mostly) back together to report live from PAX South in San Antonio, Texas! Kurt couldn’t make it, but Wade and Alex play host to a number of MHG contributors and friends.

We are SUPER lucky to have Rick Lagnese on this episode. He’s the US Community Manager for Warhorse Studios, the developers behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Rick tells us about the game and shares some great stories from his past.

This cast was a blast to record, and we hope you enjoy hearing all about PAX South and some of the fantastic titles we were able to get our hands on.

13: New Star Wars Trilogy, Respawn Buyout, Xbox Changing Gears

November 11, 2017 @ 10:46 pm
00:0000:00

Analog Assault Episode 13: New Star Wars Trilogy, Respawn Buyout, Xbox Changing Gears

Recorded on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

This week, we’re diving head-first into Star Wars and, by proxy, EA Games.

We have received confirmation that there will be a new Star Wars trilogy (duh) after Episode 9. Director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, will be responsible for carrying the torch.

It appears we’ve gotten a clue as to Thrawn surviving his appearances in Star Wars Rebels, the animated series.

EA has recently purchased Respawn studios, known for the Titanfall series. We discuss what this means for Star Wars fans, and how it is connected to the recent closure of Visceral.

It’s being reported that Xbox now wants to focus their attention on acquiring and developing first-party titles. Is it too little, too late?

Your submissions to Shots Fired get us gabbing about Overwatch and eSports, Destiny 2 and its subclasses, Mass Effect, Battlefront 2, and more.

You’re in for a prime treat this week, listeners! With our well-loved host offline this week, former cohost Thaddeus Prime has rejoined to dish on the latest ish in gaming news.

Wolfenstein 2 is sticking it to the Nazi party in fine form. Thaddeus tells us a bit about the game and how it holds up compared to previous titles.

11: Single-Player Games Are Dead & Destiny’s Data Dump

October 29, 2017 @ 6:08 pm
00:0000:00

Analog Assault Episode 11: Single-Player Games Are Dead & Destiny’s Data Dump

Recorded on Thursday, October 26, 2017.

13 original Xbox titles have finally made it to the backwards compatibility program on Xbox One. We’ll quickly go over the games, and Wade delves a bit further into one particularly well-loved classic making a return. Hint: It’s Star Wars.

Recently, Phil Spencer and Shannon Loftis of Xbox have commented on the current state of single player games. The Mules share thoughts on our gaming ecosystem and how single-player titles can still fit in.

Destiny 2 has officially launched on the PC, and with it comes the predictably juicy news of data miners sharing their bounties. We’ll talk briefly about some of the contents of one such mining report, as well as some of the changes Bungie is bringing to Destiny 2 according to the recent This Week at Bungie.

Your submissions to Shots Fired ask us about our favorite weapons, gaming setups, tearjerkers, and comparing Destiny 2 with Destiny 1.

10: Eviscerating Visceral Games, Keyboard & Mouse on Console

October 22, 2017 @ 6:04 pm
00:0000:00

Analog Assault Episode 10: Eviscerating Visceral Games, Keyboard & Mouse on Console

Recorded on Thursday, October 19, 2017.

October is still going strong this week as we talk a bit about Wolfenstein II, releasing Oct 27th. We also took a quick Twitter poll to gauge excitement for various activities as Oct 27 is going to be a busy day!

Keyboard and mouse support is headed to the Xbox One, and one manufacturer is already selling Xbox-compatible hardware. We dive into our thoughts regarding KBM users in a console environment.

Visceral games, formerly of Dead Space fame, was responsible for producing a mysterious new release in EA’s Star Wars line-up. With Amy Hennig (Uncharted) leading the team, a very promising game was to be in store. Now, Visceral is closing their doors and the game is going through some major changes, including the development team. We discuss EA’s response to the bold move and share some of our thoughts on what this means for the Star Wars title.

Your submissions for Shots Fired get us just hot and bothered about microtransactions, the shortcomings of Destiny 2, Halloween and horror games, and Cuphead.

9: Shadow of War Impressions, Star Wars: The Last Jedi Teaser

October 15, 2017 @ 10:06 pm
00:0000:00

Analog Assault Episode 9: Shadow of War Impressions, Star Wars: The Last Jedi Teaser

Recorded on Thursday, October 12, 2017.

This week, we’re diving helmet-first into Mordor and talking about Shadow of War! MulehornGaming.com contributor and gaming bud, NateJohns is our special guest. He’ll be taking us through some of his initial impressions of Shadow of War, explaining several of the in-game systems and experiences.

Naturally, the inclusion of microtransactions in Shadow of War has been a point of some controversy. They’re also present in another new title, Star Wars Battlefront II. We discuss microtransactions as a trend in gaming, and whether they belong in single-player games, multiplayer games, and mobile titles.

The latest teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi appeared recently. With it, I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror… I kid. But, the internet is having a heyday with some of the scenes in the trailer, including what some consider to be spoilers for The Last Jedi. We’re going to dish on how we liked the teaser trailer, and then dig in to some of our concerns and points of interest.

Submissions for Shots Fired cover mostly Destiny 2 and Star Wars, with a bit of 90’s nostalgia and superhero discussion.
